Apple has launched one of its technological marvels once again, in the form of the iPhone 6. Hey, wait! It is not ONE, this time it has come up with TWO marvels at a time, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. If you are a fan of Apple products, and cannot wait to get its latest invention, you have to choose between the two now. Wondering how to choose? Knowing the key differences may help you make the right choice. This post aims to help you get a clear idea of, how different these two models are in terms of the most important features.
Let us come to the screen size first. The iPhone 6 has a screen size of 4.7 inches, which is indeed a considerable increase when compared to its predecessor, which has a 4 inches screen. However, this size is smaller when you compare it with models like the Moto X (5.2 inches screen), HTC One M8 (5 inches screen) and the Samsung Galaxy S5 (5.1 inches screen).
On the other hand, the iPhone 6 Plus comes with a grand screen size of 5.5 inches. This makes it eligible to become a member of the phablet class. The 6 Plus model does not have styli unlike most of the other big-screened handsets that accompany styli. The reason behind may be the hatred of Steve Jobs for styli. However, the great news is that the home screen of iPhone 6 Plus works in the landscape mode, making the model the first among iPhones to have such a feature.
So, if a bigger screen is what you want in your phone, go and grab the iPhone 6 Plus.
Camera and Resolution:
Although both the models have a “Retina HD” screen, there is a little bit variation in the resolution of the two. The resolution and pixel density of the iPhone 6 Plus are 1920 x 1080 and 401 ppi respectively, whereas, in case of the iPhone 6, they are 1334 x 750 and 326 ppi respectively. This is slightly lower than the Plus model.
Coming to the camera, both the handsets have a front-facing shooter of 2.1 MP and a rear-facing camera of 8 MP. In terms of camera, the only edge that iPhone 6 Plus has over iPhone 6, is the feature of “optical image stabilization”. In case of iPhone 6, it is “digital image stabilization”.
Both the models sport an upgraded battery life. However, there are some differences on this ground too. On comparing both on this ground, the figures that you will find for iPhone 6 are a standby time of 60 days, internet use for 10 – 11 hours, video playback for 11 hours and audio playback for 50 hours. For the Plus model, the figures are slightly better, being a standby time of 16 days, internet use for 12 hours, video playback for 14 hours and audio playback for 80 hours.
Do you find yourself frequently at places where you have no ways to charge your phone? Well, the Plus model is made for you then.
Weight and Thickness:
Although the 6 Plus model is remarkably bigger, when you compare the two on the grounds of weight and thickness, they are surprisingly similar. The 6 Plus model features a thickness of 7.1 mm, and is merely a hair thicker when compared to the 6.9 mm thick iPhone 6. The 6 Plus handset is slightly bulkier, weighing 6.07 ounces. The iPhone 6 weighs 4.55 ounces.
Last but not the least; let us look at the prices of the two. The 16 GB version of the iPhone 6 comes at a price of $199. The 64 GB version costs $299 and the 128 GB model costs $399. The iPhone 6 Plus model has a bigger size as well as a bigger price, with the cost of the 16 GB model being $299. An amount of $100 is added to the price as you move each size up.
Still thinking which one to go for? It is a good idea to determine your individual needs and tastes first, and then check out which model meets those best. Hope this information helps you make the right move.
