The Pros and Cons of Owning a Land Rover

As a little disclaimer, this article may seem like it is biased towards owning a Land Rover because it has more “Pros” than “Cons”, but the weight of opinion lies on how much value a person puts on each point. For example, if a person cannot afford a new Land Rover, then the “con” about them being expensive is going to hold a little more water for them, than the “pro” that they can haul a caravan.

Pro

The Land Rover may be an expensive car to buy, but it also retains its value very well and you will get a better resale price for your Land Rover than you will for most other cars.

Con

Land Rovers are stereotypical “gas guzzlers” (to coin the American phrase) and hence need a lot of fuel if you are planning to take a long trip. With the price of fuel at the highest it has ever been and continuing to rise, it costs a fair amount of money to run.

Pro

For a big car, the Land Rover has infinitely better handling and maneuverability than most other large SUV vehicles. Most SUV vehicles have power, weight and size but are no good at sharp corners or dealing with heavy wind. The Land Rover beats them hands down on both points.

Con

A Land Rover is very polluting. It uses more fuel and so gives out a lot more polluting fumes than most of the smaller cars.

Pro

The Land Rover is a very powerful car with a very powerful engine. As a result you are able to pull a caravan with a Land Rover. You are also able to pull very large and heavy trailers. If you have a particularly strong trailer, then it is possible to fill it with building materials and pull it with a Land Rover, because the engine has enough power to take the strain. The Land Rover is also very good at pulling other vehicles that are stuck in the countryside or in ditches.

Con

It is expensive to maintain. Land Rover Parts can be expensive to buy, and should only be installed by service people who know exactly what they are doing. This can make the Land Rover a very expensive machine to maintain unless you know a good Land Rover Parts supplier.

Pro

The size of the car, the noise of the engine and the feel of the drive, makes operating a Land Rover a very invigorating and rewarding experience. The car has a lot of power, and the feel of moving such a large object with such a force is very satisfying. It is one of the reasons why it is such a pleasure to drive a Land Rover.

Con

It is not practical to have a countryside car in the town or city, and there are a lot more towns and cities in Britain than there is countryside. So the Land Rover is fairly redundant as a vehicle for everyday use.

Pro

The Land Rover feels very spacious inside. It turns the car into a mini home and makes the driving experience more enjoyable. The more room you have in a car, then the less inclined you feel to get out and stop during long trips. This often saves a lot of time.
