The new Twitter blog pot has announced a new feature, “the ability to reactively withhold content from users in a specific country — while keeping it available in the rest of the world.” You can look into this new ability either being optimistic or pessimistic. If you look at it optimistically, Twitter can now effectively manage itself to the demands of countries.
Overall, it I indeed a good strategy and many countries can implement it specially those countries who forbid speaking ill of God or praising Hitler. They will be able to implement the restrictions via Twitter.

It could always be restricted by was not an ideal solution. A tweet that stated foul could easily be removed globally but citizens in countries devoid of official limits on free speech was not able to hear it. But the new censorship will be restricted to the bounds of the nation that requests it.
It even may be worse as the internet including Twitter is a platform for global communication and national conflicts are illogical over the internet. Before this censorship was announced, Twitter was a universal platform on which anything was said on a global scale but this new introduction legitimizes the blocks as well as concedes global territory to countries that “have different ideas about the contours of freedom of expression.” It is quite troubling.
It is a logical decision for a universally accepted platform though unfortunate. It is just a concession Twitter has made but this feature may not be a symbolic one, thus won’t be implemented as of now. Twitter is a meta-national community and it is supposed to respect its ingredient parts even though it demands tough decision.
